Jordan Rodriguez is the outdoor columnist for the Idaho Statesman. He has been fishing since he and his father took up the sport when Jordan was young. Some of his earliest memories, and favorite stories, involve a fishing pole and some excitement. A few weeks back, the South Dakota Deaf Anglers were holding their annual tournament on the shores of Lake Oahe near Pierre. The Fishing Crew founder Curt Underhill helped me get in touch with his childhood friend and group member Paul Fosheim for a chat while they fished for northerns in Cow Creek. I learned a lot from this passionate group of anglers, and had a blast chatting with them for a few hours.

Georgine Chytka was fishing with her son one November day in 1975 when she landed a fish that many thought would never be landed in South Dakota...A new state record walleye.

Gary and Larry have had some great adventures together. But the reason they can take those adventures is because their families are so understanding and open to the lifestyle. It helps that they take their wives along for a fishing adventure once-in-a-while.

One of the best fishing trips these two ever ha was coming out of Lake of the Woods and looking to burn an extra two days. They found a favorite catfish hole that later produced a big walleye bite.

Whitney Anderson grew up in a commercial fishing family in Chignik, Alaska. Her experiences fishing with her family, and values she picked up along the way have helped her create her own art business and fashion line. She shared some of the lessons she learned, and some of her childhood memories with us over the phone.

Jim Mollison has been fishing for nearly 80 years. He's learned a thing or two during that time, and has some great memories on the water. We sat down with Jim to share some of those memories and learn about what makes him so passionate about the sport we all love.

USA Ice Team is on their way to Kazakhstan to compete in the World Ice Fishing Championships. This story takes off right where Part 1 left off. If you haven't listened to that yet, please do that first. We learn more about this sport and the guys who represent our country overseas.

Todd Heitkamp is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He is also the proud owner of Dakota Angler in Sioux Falls, SD. He gave us a backstage pass to his fishing career in this conversation. We talked about his passion for fishing and where it comes from, some of the challenges that exist for the "mom and pop" tackle shops, and his proudest moment as an angler.

Charlie Moore spent many years as a professional angler. When the industry began to get the best of him, he decided to get back to what was truly important in his life.

USA Ice Team consists of a group of guys who compete at the World Ice Fishing Championships. This is the olympics of ice fishing. USA Ice Team has never medaled overseas, but will be trying again this March when they travel to Kazakhstan. Fish Stories will document their trip and help tell their story along the way. This is the beginning of their 2018 pursuit of gold and fishing fame.

Hank Patterson is a larger-than-life character who doesn't give a heck about anyone but himself.  Hank's a beer-drinking, fish catching, lady swooning machine...and he knows it.  That's the character that Travis Swartz gets to play in his videos.  In real life, he's a low-key guy with a past filled with comedy and fishing adventure.  We had a great conversation at the Alex Johnson in Rapid City.  I challenge you not to laugh during the discussion...pretty sure you'll lose.  Good luck!

Bob Landberg is an 83 year old angler from North Platte, NE who loves to fish. He's had some epic adventures over the years, and has the photos to prove it. We dusted off some of those rusty old photos and shared some of his memories from out on the water. Salmon, walleye, battles won, and battles lost.

Jim and Martha Schwartz own the Poor Fish Ranch in western Idaho. It is an oasis in the middle of and Idaho countryside. Hospitality, creativity, passion, and fish now fill a property that was once a wasteland of weeds and cheat grass. On October 19, 2008, Anthony Eastman DeChandt passed away at the young age of 67. he was known by hundreds of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts by the name Tony Dean. Doug "Duke" Seiner is a lifelong angler from Mitchell South Dakota.   He's also my dad.  He is one of those dads who goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a good experience.  You know, the kind of dad who would create/host outdoor events, make trophies, take you out of school early to go hunting fishing and sometimes (albeit unknowingly) embarrass you in front of a crowd.  Another thing he has always been good at is telling stories. Dan Frasier has a genesis story that is a bit different from most. His mother, Joyce, was the person primarily responsible for teaching him how to fish, and feeding his fishing curiosity as a youngster. This story is about Joyce and the impact she has had on the Frasier family fishing traditions. Joyce grew up fishing with her grandfather, and has always had fishing in her life. She fell in love with the sport at an early age and has been at it ever since. After Dan began fly fishing, he took Joyce under his wing and taught her the ropes. That has become her new passion. She loves fishing with her children and her grandchildren, and she loves fishing on her own. Most of all...she loves sharing her stories and her experiences with the ones she cares about. DeWitt Clinton Booth, or “D.C.” as he insisted on?being called, came to South Dakota in 1899 to become the youngest hatchery superintendent in the country. What he created has become the gem of a community, and an archive of fisheries knowledge.  His legacies lives on through an ever-expanding fisheries archive, active youth activities, 150,000+ visitors each year, and fish production/stocking within South Dakota and beyond.  Visit the D.C. This is the story about Duane Hjelm's (pronounced Jelm) first win on the National Walleye Tour, fishing a lake he had never fished before pre-fishing for six days prior. Duane is from Ft. Pierre, S.D. and has aspirations for being a better angler in the future. He tells a great story about his early career success.
